Our Solution for detecting
Vespa velutina nests

With our VV basic set, we offer you a solution for tracking individual animals. Weighing only 0.17 g, the G17D3 VV transmitters are perfect for tracking animals over long periods of time. The transmitters have an eyelet for easy attachment to the hornet. They are activated by cutting a wire loop and transmit for up to three days. That's enough time to track down the hornet in its nest.

V-Series G17D3r VV with just 0.17 g and 3 days runtime.

How to attach the transmitter

1

Ensure that a Vespa velutina nigrithorax is tagged, and not another hornet. Calm it down to avoid stings.

2

Prepare the transmitter by cutting the activation wire. Thread a strong but lightweight thread through the eyelet.

3

Tie the thread around the hornet's abdomen while it is still. Be careful of the sting. Specialised rubber gloves are recommended.

4

Give the hornet time to recover. Offer it a few calories. Release the hornet and locate the nest.
