Transmitters
How far do the transmitters transmit?
The signals, electromagnetic waves, propagate from the transmitter to the receiver. The reception range of a transmitter-receiver system depends primarily on the topography and cannot be specified in general terms. An optimum reception range exists when all conditions for unhindered propagation are met. Under atmospheric conditions, line of sight is the optimum. The electromagnetic wave is attenuated, i.e. the reception range is reduced, by

– Water (humidity, rain)

How long can the transmitters be stored?
Our transmitters can be stored for up to one year under the right conditions (cool and dark, but not freezing). Exceptions to this are the G17D3 and the G19D4. Their recommended storage period is 6 months.
How do you store the transmitters correctly?
Dry, dark and cool are the best storage conditions for our transmitters. Feedback from our customers indicates that the transmitters can easily last a year in the refrigerator. Please ensure that the environment is dry. Please do not store the transmitters in the freezer compartment, as freezing temperatures will damage the batteries.
How do I attach the transmitter to my animal?
We are always keen to develop a customised solution for your telemetry project. In general, however, Sauer skin glue has established itself as best practice for non-aquatic creatures. We have also seen medical adhesive tape or other biodegradable materials used in the field.
Shipment
Are the transmitters available at short notice?
The delivery time depends on when the order is placed. Early orders in the winter months are prioritised. Short-term orders in the summer half-year, during the season, usually meet with high demand while production capacities remain the same. Nevertheless, we endeavour to support every customer request to the best of our ability.
Do you also ship abroad?
We ship to all countries worldwide. There are adjusted shipping and insurance fees. We will provide information about the shipping costs in a quotation.
Is partial delivery possible?
Partial delivery is possible in principle and is also carried out regularly. The following reasons are possible for a partial delivery:
- Distributed demand during the season
- low stock levels during the season
- unclear budgets
Please note that we also issue a partial invoice for partial deliveries. A changing demand for transmitters does not automatically lead to a change in the offer confirmation. All ordered transmitters will be delivered and invoiced.
Warranty & return
How do we complain about defective transmitters?
If you have received a defective transmitter, we apologise. Our aim is 100% reliability. You can return the transmitter to us and we will send you a replacement.
Do you take back unused transmitters?
We usually recommend that our customers store the transmitters in a dark place at cool temperatures. The next season is sure to come. There are no plans to return the transmitters.
Automated telemetry
Does Plecotus Solutions offer automated telemetry systems?
Due to the changed market situation, we have decided to discontinue the production of 'rteu' systems at the end of 2024. We recommend that customers who require automated telemetry systems use the systems from trackIT Systems, as our G38D10 V5+ and G38D8 V3+ telemetry transmitters are highly compatible with this system.
Are the transmitters compatible with the TrackIT Systems system?
Yes, the G38D8 V3+ and G29D8 V5+ transmitters are highly compatible with TrackIt. The exact distribution of frequencies must be clarified in advance depending on the project.
Are the transmitters suitable for automatic telemetry?
Our transmitters are suitable for a wide range of applications in the 150 MHz band. If the receiving systems record in the 150 MHz band, they should be compatible in principle. In individual cases, compatibility must be clarified with the manufacturer of the receiving system.
