This workshop is aimed at professionals with no prior experience in wildlife telemetry who wish to acquire the skills to locate telemetry transmitters in real-world field conditions and optimise their working procedures.

The course covers the following topics, amongst others:

• From receiver to transmitter: detailed examination of individual technical aspects with a short practical session
• Searching for hidden transmitters in pairs, followed by a debriefing
• Cartography and effective decision-making in the field
• Practical application in pairs
• Practical application with swapped scenarios

This workshop is aimed at professionals with prior experience in wildlife telemetry who wish to enhance their skills in locating telemetry transmitters under real-world field conditions and optimise their workflows.

The course will cover the following topics, amongst others:

• From receiver to transmitter: a brief theoretical overview
• Non-stationary transmitters – what makes them different?
• Mapping and effective decision-making in the field when dealing with moving transmitters
• Practical exercises with moving transmitters in teams of two
• Practical application with varied scenarios
• Data collection and documentation

This workshop is aimed at experienced professionals who regularly work with telemetry systems and wish to further develop their skills in complex tracking scenarios and the strategic planning of telemetry operations.

The course focuses on challenging field situations, efficient search strategies and the analysis of complex telemetry data.

The course covers the following topics, amongst others:

• Theoretical introduction to triangulation
• Cartography, effective decision-making and coordination in the field
• Triangulation software
• Practical introduction and exercises with moving transmitters
• Practical exercises
• Data collection, calculation and documentation

Advanced course – Prerequisites

Several years' practical experience in telemetry and confident use of common tracking techniques.
